World Day of Prayer – March 6th

World Day of Prayer is on Friday, March 6th. The ecumenical service in Markdale this year will be at Christ Church Anglican on Friday, March 6th at 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

A Lenten Practice

Could you read the NT in 40 days (more or less)?  Every time you read a scripture passage, you are in a position to see it with new eyes.   What is God’s message for you in 2026?  Before each 30 minute reading period, pray to have the understanding of the passage that God wants you to have for that day.  A guide to the readings can be picked up in the Narthex or office, or can be downloaded HERE:

Reading-40DaysNTDownload

An audio recording of the passage is available at Biblegateway.com.  Go to the site and 1/. Enter the passage e.g. Mark 1 2/. Enter the preferred version (perhaps NRSV or NIV or MSG for The Message) 3/. hit the SEARCH 🔍 indicator 4/. The passage should come up. For audio,  touch the 🔈 Speaker Indicator.  Try this ahead of time in case you need help getting it to work.  You can do the practice on your own, or let us know if you’d like an informal discussion group. Please give your name to Patti or sign the sheet in the Narthex to show that you are interested. If you take 80 days instead of 40, it’s not a problem. Blessing on your efforts!

In the Library

The Great Emergence by Phyllis Tickle.

Rooted in the observation that massive transitions in the church happen about every 500 years, Phyllis Tickle shows readers that we live in such a time right now. She compares the Great Emergence to other “Greats” in the history of Christianity, including the Great Transformation (when God walked among us), Anyone who is interested in the future of the church in Canada, no matter what their personal affiliation, will find this book a fascinating exploration.
