Coronation Service Watch Party – May 6th

On Saturday, May 6th , The Grey Highlands Peace Committee and Annesley Events present a viewing of the Coronation Service of King Charles III. Plan to join us for this historic occasion. The Coronation is the symbolic religious ceremony during which our new sovereign will be crowned. It formalizes the monarch’s role as the constitutional head of Canada and marks the transfer of title and powers. General admission -donations accepted.

10:30 a.m.: Doors open

11:00 a.m. Coronation Service with on-site report from Nathan Tidridge

12:00 p.m.: Light lunch by Tastea Treats (sandwiches, biscuits and cream, tea, coffee and refreshments)

1:00 p.m. Presentation –Indigenous history in Grey Bruce & the relationship with the Crown in Canada.

Bored of Education Band is returning to Annesley!!

On Sunday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m., come and enjoy a social night out- A performance of Live Music that is fun for all ages! The local band Bored of Education had us toe tapping, singing along and clapping to a variety of music from past to present day when they performed at Annesley in 2019-DON”T MISS TTickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, Children 12 and under are FREE, and can be purchased at the Annesley office, Annesley.Events , the QR code from a poster, Susan’s Deli, the Artemesia Cheese Shop or at the church on this Sunday and next.

The Annual General Meeting

The AGM is THIS SUNDAY (April 30th ), after the morning service. Annual Reports are now available HERE:

Harriston Packing Company Fund Raiser

Just in time for the BBQ season, we are offering products from Harriston Packing Co. again this year.  Harriston’s Famous Smoked Pork Chops, plus 15 other frozen and boxed quality meat products are available for purchase. Please find below 1) a complete listing of numbered products with prices and 2) and order form, with instructions. Order forms can also be picked up at the church office. Your order, accompanied by full payment, is to be handed in at the church office (weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., no later than Sunday, May 14th, 2023. Payment by cheque (payable to Annesley United Church) or cash. Pickup of your order and payment can be arranged by phoning the church office at 519-986-3019 Your frozen meat will arrive at the church on Friday, May 19th, 2023. You are asked to pick up your order at the church from 3:00 p.m. to to 6:00 p.m. on that day . Delivery, if necessary, can be arranged by calling John Lewis at 519-379-1685 by Wednesday, May 17th If you do not wish to purchase any product, but would like to support this endeavour, any and all monetary donations will be gratefully accepted.

Broadview Subscriptions – Renewals are now due!

There are still a few people who have not paid – Are you one of them? Our subscription runs from April, 2023 to March 2024. Renewal is still only $25. You can mark an envelope in the collection plate “Broadview”, mail a cheque to Annesley United Church, Box 573, Markdale, On N0C 1H0, or pay at the office during the week. New subscriptions are welcome!

Flower Power

Easter Sunday at Annesley was “Flowerful”.  Thanks to everyone for sharing lovely spring flowers so our sanctuary could sing  with colour and happiness. The music was “uplifting”, as experienced in our sequence of squats and arm raises! New faces and veteran faces were wonderful to see. Happy days and Hallelujah!  p.s. Thanks, Joe, for continuing our egg contest with your donation.

Sunday Coffee Break

Easter Coffee Time: Coffee, tea , apple cider, cookies, cupcakes and Hot Cross Buns—what a combo to celebrate such a special day!  A big shout out to all who treated us before and following the service.  At Annesley, we love hospitality and every opportunity to celebrate!

Brenda & Peter Dimoff: CDs available due to popular demand

We have all been enjoying the music of Brenda and Peter Dimoff during the Sunday services. Many people have asked where they can get a copy of their CD, so Brenda and Peter have graciously responded by producing copies of the CD, as a fund raiser for Annesley!  For a donation of $20 or more to Annesley, you receive a copy of this wonderful CD.  They will be available each Sunday, or at the office during the week. 

Funeral Lunch Team needs help

The Funeral Lunch Group has reconvened , but are looking for people who would be kind enough to go on the phone list for donations of food (sandwiches, dessert squares, vegetable trays)  for funeral or community lunches. Please contact Korleen at 519 986 3293 or Karen at 519-986-2130.

Drivers Needed

A new resident of the Markdale community is in need of transportation to English as a Second Language (ESL) classes in Owen Sound.  Classes begin at 9:30 am and end at 12:30 pm.  Drivers are needed for Wed. May 3rd,  Wed. May 24th, Tues.May 30th and Wed. May 31  If you, or someone you know, are able to drive for one or more of those days, could you please call Heather Spry….519-986-1710 or Donna Dickie….519-986-3393?  Your help would be greatly appreciated!”

We will be compiling them with other great things happening in and around Annesley for our NEW Living Faith Story. This would be shared with potential candidates to show what Annesley is all about! We are continuing to explore the possibility of Annesley becoming an Affirming Ministry church. Do you have questions or comments you would like to make? We are keen to hear from you as we discern this path. There is a now a Comments and Questions box in the Narthex. Please feel free to write anonymously, but if you would like to speak to someone on the team or attend one of our team meetings with your feedback, please add your name and contact information. Or of course just speak to us in person! We really need and value your input. Task Teams hard at work

Many exciting things are happening around the building!   Feel free to stroll through to see the progress being made to make the basement rooms inviting, clean and bright, and check out the completed Wesley Room.  The Refresh Team (and helpers) are working hard every day.  Thank them for their efforts when you stop by!  If you have more time these days, your help and vision are always welcome.

Centering Prayer

“Centering Prayer is an idealized method to facilitate the development of Contemplative Prayer, preparing our faculties to receive this sun. It is an attempt to present the teachings of ancient Christian knowledge in an updated way.”  Father Keating  All are welcome.

Grey County Cares

Support our Ukrainian refugees in Grey County by buying a button for $10 or more – donations go directly to Ukrainian refugees in Grey County. Sponsored by the Rotary Club.  Buttons are in the office.

Prayer Shawl Ministry 

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is an important part of Annesley’s outreach. Warm and cozy shawls are given to those of the congregation and community who are bereaved or seriously ill. The appropriate yarn must be purchased. If you would like to help, put your donation in an envelope marked Prayer Shawl and your name and send it to the church office. If you know anyone in the community who would benefit from receiving a prayer shawl, please call the office at 519-986-3019.
